El Tatio Geysers & Machuca Village
Early this morning you will be picked up from your hotel (around 5:30am) and head to the famous El Tatio Geysers, a geothermal field flanked by soaring peaks. After 2 hours of travelling you will arrive in El Tatio, situated 4320m above sea level on the Altiplano. Here you will see powerful spurts of steam shoot out from various blowholes. There are around 40 geysers, thermal ells and fumaroles. The steam hurling up from the geysers in the early morning light and the spectacular scenery are an unforgettable experience. You will enjoy a delicious breakfast next to the geysers followed by a walk around the geothermal field close to this natural wonder. If possible, depending on the current activity of the geyser, you can take a bath in the hot thermal public pools.
Later you will drive on to Machuca, a former ancestral-people settlement with houses built using ancient traditional methods. You will return to your hotel after this, arriving around 1pm with the remainder of the day at your leisure.
Due to the high altitude and early departure, it is recommended to eat a light dinner the night before and no alcohol. The lowest the temperature could get down to is -15ºC so be sure to take warm clothing, sun cream, sunglasses and a bathing suit and towel.
Breakfast included.
